Well, it feels a little weird being off ‘work’ (or at least out of blogging for awhile) Stupid wi-fi problems and all of that sort of stuff. Anyways, not a whole lot new has happened in the last week or so. I did finally get Mr. Roscoe moved in. As far as work goes that had to have been the easiest move I’ve ever participated in. Outside of his crate and leash he really didn’t have much in the way of possessions to load up. Getting him loaded up was just about the funniest thing I’ve seen in quite awhile! We were getting everything set up in the car and Big Flashie (obviously) noticed what was going on and somewhere in the process decided that he wanted to go wherever his buddy was going. So, as soon as we got the gate open he lived up to his name and totally bolted for the car. We had already gotten Roscoe into the car, and in his crate by this time. I guess I had forgotten how expressive a basset hound can be cause the look of ‘what the heck is HE doing’ on Roscoe’s face was absolutely classic! I’ve never seen that dog with that particular look on his face. Flash seriously boosted into the car, clear across the back and by the time I got around the driver’s side to lasso the old dude he had plastered his big old snout up against the window. Oh my gosh, that was another episode hilariosity as well let me tell you. I may be reading into it but I could’ve sworn that old dog knew things were going to be radically changing for him. It was almost like he had this awareness that Roscoe probably wasn’t going to be coming back that time and he didn’t want it to happen. Well, it did cause Roscoe’s sitting right outside the window behind me doing his little whiney crybaby thing trying to get my attention. I had totally forgotten that he did that. When we lived in Houston he would do the same exact thing, for most of the night. Guess he still gets lonely or whatever. The ‘unfortunate’ thing about him living here is that the little turd can get around the side of the house right by my bedroom window and as soon as he notices the light’s turned on he’s there trying to get his daddy’s attention. Sad thing is that when he does that I’m usually not able to go out and hang with him. I did notice something today that kinda makes me feel like he might just be getting used to the place. I was out there with him earlier this afternoon and he had found a stick or something to chew on so I horsed around with him for a while. That’s always been the ‘sign’ with him, having something around to gnaw on. Luckily it hasn’t been anything valuable…like the side of the house. Yeah, when we lived up in Arkansas my parents’ dog basically got lonely and/or pissed at the world and decided to retaliate by chewing the edge off a piece of wood siding that ran the entire length of the house. Must’ve been about a twenty foot long strip if I had to guess. Personally, I have no clue whatsoever how he found the patience to do something like that but then again I suppose its fairly easy to come up with destructive stuff to do when you have nothing but time on your paws. lol. Oh, the funniest thing happened when we got home. I have this metal water bowl out in the yard for him. Well, it must’ve been utterly beneath his doggie dignity because he just stood there and stared at it for two or three minutes at least. I sincerely believe that it didn’t compute. He had spent the last three years drinking out of a swimming pool that was all big and fancy so you can imagine the ‘shock’ to his system when he was faced with a bowl. I could almost hear wheels spinning in his head like, ‘Okay dude, if you’re going to move me to a totally strange pad like this you can have the decency and common courtesy to at least make an attempt at treating me in the fashion to which I’ve become accustomed over the last three years.’
