I copied this off a friend of mine's Facebook page. I have to admit that this question really got me thinking. You know, I really try to ignore the 'religious' aspects of politics for a really simple reason. The reason is that when my mind starts going down this particular road my repressed, latent cynicism starts to bubble up. In all honesty I think one particular part of the political spectrum panders to those who believe in Christ and the other end panders to those who don't. And then there's the school of thought that once those guys get a taste of power they'll do/say whatever it takes to maintain themselves in the little fiefdoms that they establish and then do whatever it takes to expand it or move up to the next rung in the establishment ladder. Other than that, I think Jesus is probably up in heaven just shaking his head at this whole exchange. I have a feeling that he's more than likely reminding people that HE knows and HE is in control and that regardless of what happens or who is executing that plan its still HIS plan and there's no need for us to get amped up about it.
"Just a question. I saw something the other day and it really caught me off guard. I read an article that Christian's believe that anyone who is Liberal and/or Democrat could not possibly be a saved Christian. How many believe this to be true? No attacking one another, attacks will be deleted. Be kind to one another. I am, however, curious to know"
It brings to mind a paraphrase of a Gandhi quote that I read somewhere a while back. "I like Christ, but his people make me really nervous' Come on people, why let yourself get all negative about this?!? Instead of letting yourself get consumed with hatred and anger, which Satan simply adores since it renders you TOTALLY ineffective, why not pray for them instead? Ask God to give our political leadership the grace and wisdom to make the best choice and be satisfied when they do. After all, the Bible kind of orders us to do that, right?
Okay world, gotta go to bed. The workplace frowns on sleeping at the desk. Viva la Mountain Dew!
You rock, Tyler :-)
